Bell peppers are a favorite of ours, and are also known as sweet
peppers. They are bell-shaped, crunchy, and beautiful and bright in
color. They are a part of the chili pepper family, but are not
spicy. This veggie is native to Mexico, but is an important
commercial crop all over the world. They come in bright colors such
as orange, red, purple and yellow. Bell peppers can help promote
health with nutrients and are also low in calories and fats. Bell
peppers have Vitamin A and C, along with potassium, iron, zinc and
magnesium. These combinations can help resist against infection and
facilitate metabolism.
Fresh bell peppers are sold in grocery stores year-round and are
best when fresh, firm and bright in color. They are great raw or
with dip, in salad or stir-fry. They can be stuffed, grilled or
served on pizzas.
